Evaluation Process

Accreditation body members of Global ACI are admitted to the MRA as Full Members only after stringent evaluation of their operations by a peer evaluation team. It is the responsibility of this team to assess that the applicant complies fully with both international standards and Global ACI guidelines.

Each accreditation body that is a signatory to the Global ACI MRA commits to:

  • Maintain conformance with ISO/IEC 17011 and other relevant international standards applicable to its recognition scope.
  • Adhere to Global ACI MRA policies, procedures, and normative documents, ensuring consistent implementation of Global ACI requirements.
  • Ensure that all accredited conformity assessment bodies operate in accordance with applicable international standards and Global ACI requirements.
  • Cooperate with other accreditation bodies to support the extension of the Global ACI MRA and maintain confidence in the mutual recognition framework.

The Global ACI MRA has been structured to build on existing regional MRAs/MLAs established around the world. Global ACI has granted special recognition to the MRA/MLA programs of six regional cooperation bodies, the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC), the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (APAC), the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC), the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC), on the basis of the acceptance of the mutual recognition arrangements established within these organisations.

Global ACI accreditation body members who are signatories of these regional MRAs/MLAs may also be accepted into the Global ACI MRA for recognised programs.
